I’m currently spending a lot of my outside of school time getting certified to be a Google Educator. This is mostly because all the students at my school will soon be getting Chromebooks, and I’d like to be certified on the technology.

High school chorus
Status
The high school chorus came to school today and sang some numbers. It was great to see some of my previous students again. We’re the smallest sending district of four to the regional high school, and three of my previous students were featured! Cool!

Observation today
Status
Today was my observation. I knew that I would be observed sometime this month, and Dr. DiGanci came in at the start of 2nd period. The kids were great, and I couldn’t have asked for a better class for it. We talked about forestry, clear cutting, and selected cutting. At the end of class Dr. DiGanci said that he enjoyed the class and learned a few things.
7th grade did 2 point discrimination lab
Status
The 7th grade is currently studying skin. Today we did a lab on 2 point discrimination. This is the poking lab. Students paired up and bent paperclips so the ends were close together. They then tried seeing if the “pokee” could tell the different between a touch when the tips were 1 mm apart at various body locations (finger, back of hand, back of neck, earlobe, etc.). They tried this with increasing distances until they could tell the difference between 1 tip and 2 tips. Some locations on the body can detect tips that are very close together, others don’t have as many touch sensors and the tips need to be further apart.
